Newport, RI
Letter to Families sent home May 1
The Senior Class will view the mansions and gardens at The Breakers and Marble House where Gilded Age splendor will enrich their study of The Great Gatsby and this historic time in the United States. Students will have the choice to either walk from Marble House to The Breakers via the Cliff Walk or take the bus. After both tours, we will have lunch in town, visit First Beach if the weather is nice, and arrive back at school around 5:00 p.m.
The morning of departure, seniors will need to be on campus for WIN block attendance by 7:50 and should arrange parent pickup in the evening if they do not drive.
Students should bring money for lunch and shopping in Newport, the bus fee and tours will be covered by the senior class. It is very important to us that ALL 12th graders are able to attend. Please email Mrs. McGarry or Ms. Fraser, the senior class advisor, if the cost for lunch in town is at all prohibitive.
Permission Slips are due to Mrs. McGarry by Monday May 19th. A physical copy has been distributed to your student in English class. If your student has turned in a permission slip we will be expecting them to be present during WIN by 7:50 before departure on the 27th. A phone call will be made to the parent of any missing student that has turned in a slip.
All Aggie seniors will be expected to use school provided transportation and scheduled destination reservations. Any seniors on campus that are not attending the trip will work in the Student Learning Center for the day. There will not be excused absences from school on the day of the Newport trip.
