Reminder about Course Selection
Important Information Regarding Course Selection for Grade 9 Students
Dear Parents and Guardians:
As we prepare for the next school year, we want to be sure Grade 9 students and families are clear on the Vocational course selection process for Grade 10. All Grade 9 students were engaged in a Course Selection Workshop where the selection process was explained and their options for classes were reviewed, while Course selection was conducted at the end of March. At this time, Grade 9 students will choose a cluster (one of our agricultural departments) to narrow their focus and 2 electives from the other departments.
Important Takeaways:
Grade 9 students will choose a cluster (one of our agricultural departments) & 2 elective course from the other departments
Students who anticipate majoring in one of the Animal Science concentrations during Grades 11 & 12 must choose the corresponding Grade 10 prerequisite.
There are 7 concentrations offered in animal science for junior and senior year and each concentration has a prerequisite course a student must take in 10th grade.
This choice does not lock a student into a track, but it can exclude them come grades 11 and 12 if they have not taken the pre-requisite
Linked below, you will find the information that was reviewed with all grade 9 students. Attached are the course selection sheet and the animal science prerequisite chart below for your reference.
2025-2026 10 Vocational Course Selection
Grade 10 An Sci Course Selection Chart
Example: If I am a current Grade 9 student interested in majoring in the Veterinary Science Concentration during my Grade 11 & 12 years, I must be sure to select the (9245) Veterinary Science and Research Animal Technology course as part of my Grade 10 exploratory year.
We recognize this is both an exciting and challenging decision for students. We encourage students to take the courses that most most align with their vocational interests. And as always, we will help and support them through the process.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your student’s guidance counselor.
9th Annual Agricultural Expo Saturday, May 17, 2025
Dear FFA Friend,
We are excited to announce the 9th Annual Agricultural Expo on Saturday, May 17, 2025. this FFA-sponsored event is a fun, family-friendly opportunity to showcase the many talents and offerings of our Aggie students. The Ag. Expo highlights everything from animals and plants to equipment and vocational skills, giving the local community a closer look at the incredible work being done by our FFA members.
In addition to being a community event, Ag. Expo is also an important fundraiser for the Norfolk Chapter FFA. Proceeds help support all Aggie students attending Big E, the National Convention, and other FFA events. Each year, we welcome hundreds of families from the neighboring communities, and we need your help and support to make this year’s event a success!
We are currently looking for vendors to participate in our “Farmer’s and Craft Market,” and we hope you will be interested! Attached is an application with directions on how to sign up to be a vendor. If interested, please complete and return it by April 11, 2025. Please feel free to pass this opportunity along to any other businesses you think would benefit from it.
If you’re unable to attend, we hope you will consider becoming a sponsor for Ag. Expo. Information can be found at www.norfolkffa.com/donate.
Thank you for your support!
Respectfully,
Norfolk Chapter FFA Norfolk County Agricultural High School

Marshfield Fair Opportunities
Director of Agriculture - This person would manage the agricultural space underneath the grandstand including coordinating display setups from various groups, the agriculture entries/competition, etc. This position would require work a few days before the fair for setup/entries then oversight for the duration of the fair (August 15-24th this year). It is a paid position in the ballpark amount of $6,000-$8,000 depending on qualifications. This role would be ideal for a staff member looking for a part time job prior to the start of the academic year.
Grounds Crew - We are always looking for additional hands to help on the grounds crew / maintenance staff. This includes cutting the grass, weed whacking, painting, moving items, etc. This is an hourly paid position that has flexible working hours throughout the summer. Ideal for a current student or college student during the summer months.
Please send any inquiries to myself at this email (nfpowers16@gmail.com) and I would forward to the proper parties. We are looking to interview for the Director of Agriculture role at the end of February. Happy to answer any questions or provide additional followup.
Thank you,
Noel Powers
