CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS

There are many extra curricular clubs and organizations that students may join. These include:

Agricultural Mechanics Club- The Agricultural Mechanics Club promotes interest in mechanics through club activities, projects and field trips. Some of our projects include Doodlebug I (Model A Fords) and Doodlebug II (Flathead V8 Fords). The Doodlebug Pull in Canterbury, NH is one of the field trip activities of the AG Mec Club.

Animal Science Club-The NCAHS Animal Science Club is a student run organization that provides social, educational and community service oriented activities for its members, and focuses on students interested in a wide range of animals including cattle, sheep, pigs and goats, as well as birds, reptiles, llamas, alpacas and other exotics.Animal Science Club

Conservation Club-This Club is a student driven organization at NCAHS. In the past , the Conservation Club sponsored trips focusing on local natural resources and outdoor activities. We have visited places such as Cape Cod National Seashore, the Cape Cod Canal to discuss and observe the engineering accomplishments of the project, a visit to the Department of Conservation and Recreation fish hatchery in Sandwich, a historic cemetery in Barnstable and finally to the cliffs and broad beaches of the National Seashore. Students explored the glacial cliffs and the brave went for a swim in the rolling surf of the Atlantic Ocean.

Equestrian Drill Team-The Equestrian Drill Team is made up of advanced riders that must try out for the team. You are required to be a student of NCAHS but you may be in any major. The team uses the school horses and performs a set routine to music demonstrating some of the disciplines offered at the school.The team performs for Admission programs and other public relations affairs.They have also performed in parades, exhibitions and some competitions

FFA-The NCAHS FFA is an intra curricular organization that teaches personal growth, premier leadership and career success. With the knowledge student’s gain from their agricultural classes, they can compete in many FFA competitions at State and National Levels. FFA is a great way for students to meet new people and strengthen their character. For more information on FFA please visit the web site at www.FFA.org

Floriculture Club- The Floriculture club is designed to introduce students to the
fun of floriculture. This club makes a variety of seasonal designs throughout the year to celebrate major holidays. Students will make arrangements for halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's day and St. Patrick's day. Floriculture club is creative and fun. This club meets about once a month and is open to all students in grades 9-12

Horse Club-The Horse Club is devoted to educating its members on the vastness of the equine industry and reinforcing the joys of horses. The club members host horse shows and riding clinics during the year. The clinics have involved vaulting, equitation, dressage and more. During the school year the officers try to organize the meetings and activities to reflect the different disciplines the students are interested in learning.

Kennel Club- The kennel club runs dog realted activities all year long. Field trips include, the Boston dog show,Westminster kennel club in New York city and other local dog shows. The kennel club puts on two dog shows a year at the school. We also host matches for several area dog clubs.

Landscape club- This club is open to all students regardless of Their major. Dues are $10. The club meets during all scheduled activity periods. As a main event the club combines with the Forestry to clean the New England Grow. Last year two plant sales where held raising approximately $4,000. This money was used to fund the Northwest Passage a new hardscape feature on campus and will also help to scholarship any Plant science student attending the FFA Nationals. Additionally bus fees for field trips were be covered for all plant science trips. The club has an annul picnic with the Forestry and Conservation clubs in the spring.

Math Club-The Math team consists of Junior and Senior students who have a good sense of mathematics. We compete in the fields of Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and related math in a vocational competition.

National Honor Society -The National Honor Society is a scholarship and service organization with the purpose of creating a stimulating desire to render service, promoting leadership and developing character in high school students.

NCAHS Student Newspaper- The Aggie Works is the student publication of NCAHS and provides a meduim for showcasing the acheivements and successes of student clubs, classes and activities. The newspaper staff encourages feedback from all members of the staff and student body.

Peer Network -The Peer Network connects programs that foster well-being in our students and Aggie community. Peer Mentors are students who become involved at the beginning of each school year in facilitating a smooth transition for incoming freshmen and new students. Mentors are a key component for acclimating freshmen and new upperclass students to our campus and our programs.Network Programs include school dances, movie nights and talent shows. Network Journeys include the October 'Bar Harbor Weekend', and the 'Summer Sojourn'. We have traveled
over 125,000 miles in the past twelve years! Studentshave hiked the Grand Canyon, the Hoh Rainforest in Washington, and have been involved with the 'Children of the Red Earth'
conference created by and with the Lakota Community in Manderson, South Dakota.

Veterinarian Assistant Club -The purpose of the NCAHS Veterinary Assistant Club is to provide and further the study of the veterinary and animal care topics, provide additional career explorations, and to promote cooperation among its Members. Each year student officers work with the advisors to provide activities and fundraisers. Guest speakers and field trips are generally a part of the club’s agenda.

Student Council- The Norfolk Aggie Student Council meets monthly. It is comprised of Class officers from each class and a representative from each Aggie club. It is an active group that sponsors an annual ski trip and an annual student breakfast.

Team Harmony -is a multi-culturally diverse group that sponsors World of Difference Week at Norfolk and the trip to the Peace Abbey.

Each organization, in conjunction with eligibility rules from parent organizations where applicable, will establish its own rules of eligibility in terms of who may participate, hold office or attend functions including state or national conventions and competitions. Such rules will include factors such as scholastic performance, record of attendance and adherence to school policies and procedures.

Advisors/coaches have the authority to require appropriate dress for participation in activities where students not only perform as individuals, but also represent Norfolk County Agricultural High School. All advisors/coaches will make eligibility rules and expected behavior known in advance.
