HOMEWORK PROCEDURES
Help! My child will be out of school! How can I get homework?
The Student Services Department has the following suggestions
about how to get work when your child is missing school:
1. Have your child contact their teacher directly by phone or
preferably e-mail. See Staff Directory
for a link to your child’s teachers.
2. Have your child look for assignments on a teacher’s
web site (not all teachers have web sites), and have a friend
who lives nearby bring home books or other materials.
3. Your child can contact other students in their class to
get assignments. Ask them to get the phone numbers of students
in their classes the first few days of school.
4. If your child will only be out for a day or two, it may
be possible to wait until they get back to make up assignments.
Teachers try to be flexible when students have been ill and
need to stay home to recuperate.
5. Making up work that is missed or tests and quizzes that
are missed can be challenging for students who do not have
study halls. Ask your student to speak to their teachers about
when they can meet after school, before school or during school
(lunch) to make up work.
6. Call your child’s counselor only when all of these
options are exhausted. It has been our experience that trying
to be the go-between results in a delay of information and dependency
on counselors for responsibilities that rightfully belong to
students. Our goal in student services is to try to make students
directly responsible for getting and completing missed work.
However, we understand that there are times when this is not
possible. In that case, please contact us for assistance. 508-668-0268,
